Food for Thought ...

Narcissism is derived from the Greek mythology of Narcissus. Narcissus was so handsome that he rejected the desperate advances of the nymph Echo. As punishment, he was doomed to fall in love with his own reflection. And thus never fornicated (was unable to consummate his love except with his own hand). Narcissus pined away and changed into a flower.

Narcissism when applied to a social groups, cliques/clans, can be called elitism or an indifference to the plight of the others.
